Obituary of Armand Joseph "Pete" Tremblay
February 12, 1928 – June 3, 2015
Armand Joseph Tremblay,
affectionately known as “Pete”, of Kissimmee, FL, passed peacefully from this
life to arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, June 3, 2015,
after a brief illness. Pete was at home at the time of his passing, surrounded
by his family. He was 87 years old.
Pete was born in Sturbridge,
Massachusetts on February 12, 1928 to Wilfred and Mae Louise (Perkins)
Tremblay. He attended Sturbridge public schools and later the machine shop of
Cole Trade School in Southbridge. He served in the U.S. Army as motor pool
supervisor in Nagata, Japan during the post WWII reconstruction. Pete married
Kathleen Noha on March 10, 1951. He and Kathy lived and raised their two
children in Southbridge, MA. Pete worked for over 40 years as an auto mechanic,
including many years at his older brother Roland’s repair shop in Fiskdale. In
1986, Pete and Kathy semi-retired and moved to Rumney Bible Conference in New
Hampshire. Beginning in 1988, they wintered in Wachula and later stayed with
their daughter Deb in Kissimmee, FL until moving south permanently in 2010.
Pete was an active member of
his church wherever he lived, including Eastford Baptist Church in Connecticut,
Rumney Baptist Church in New Hampshire, and Lighthouse Baptist Church in
Florida. While in Rumney, Pete kept busy doing volunteer work at the Bible
Conference, helping in the Maintenance Shop and in the Kitchen, but always
having fun as well. He and his peers became the founding members of the “Rumney
Coffee and Donut Club” to make sure there was always time for coffee breaks!
Pete’s life was full and
exciting. He enjoyed being with family and friends, attending the Intercession
City weekly dinners, and watching NASCAR races and Red Sox games. He loved the
outdoors and continued mowing the lawn up to the last weeks of his life. Pete was
a proud Army veteran who frequently wore his WWII cap. One of his final but
happiest moments was witnessing the flag proudly flying outside his home on
Memorial Day weekend 2015.
Pete was loved and enjoyed by
many. His upbeat and joyful presence was contagious! Joking with others was a
favorite pastime. He would affectionately give nicknames to the people in his
life. Healthcare givers were usually dubbed “Bubby”! In his most recent
hospital visit, he expressed, “I love you” to the caregivers. He was just that
way.
Pete is survived by his wife
of 64 years, Kathleen D. (Noha) Tremblay; his son, Michael (and wife Kathleen
M.) Tremblay, and his daughter Debra Tremblay, all of Kissimmee, FL; his two
grandsons, Timothy and Peter Tremblay and one great-grandson, Brent Tremblay
all of Westminster, CO; his brother, Roland Tremblay of Webster, MA and
sister-in law, Catherine Burke of
Prescott, AZ as well as many nephews and nieces in Massachusetts, Arizona, and Iowa.
God’s Garden
God looked around His garden
And found an empty place.
He then looked down upon the earth
And saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you
And lifted you to rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best.
He saw the road was getting rough
And the hills were hard to climb,
So He closed your weary eyelids
And whispered "Peace be thine".
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn’t go alone,
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.
“For to me to live is
Christ, and to die is gain.”
