JESUS LOVE -- MMB 9/9/2019

MMB – 9/9/2019 … JESUS LOVE On August 25th I ha d the privilege of giving the Bible Talk (Sermon, Message, Bible Teaching) at Maple Grove Baptist Church in Lakeport, Florida. I shared some spectacular insights of how Jesus Loves using the examples of (1) The Rich Young Ruler in Mark 10:17-21 and (2) Apostle Peter in John 21:15-17. Both of these examples show the staggering Love of Jesus in a way that fulfills John 3:16, “For God so LOVED the world that He GAVE His only Begotten Son …”. John 3 along with John 21 and Mark 10 use the Greek New Testament word for “love” … AGAPE. You see, AGAPE is unique. In most cases love is received or shared with an expectancy of return. But AGAPE (as John 3:16 suggests) GIVES without strings attached. Whether or not any kind of affection or heartfelt feeling is returned AGAPE GIVES! This is what Jesus did with the Rich Young Ruler (no name revealed in Mark 10) and Peter in John 21. Without going into all the details of the talk I gave, allow me t

The 'I Am's' of Paul - Part 3 -- MMB 8/12/2019

MONDAY MORNING BLOG SERIES Romans 1:14-16 reveal The Three 'I Am's' of Paul. In parts one and two the first two were uncovered: "I am under obligation ..." (v14 ESV) and "I am eager ..." (v15 ESV). Both spoke to Paul's ministry of serving all in his sphere of influence -- wherever he was and wherever he went -- as a debtor (obliged to give good news without regard to people groups or education levels) and as one prepared (ready to preach the Gospel). Now this leads to Paul's final 'I Am' found in Romans 1 and it's in verse 16, "I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ for it is the power of God..." (NKJV). This is interesting. I thought for a moment about what Paul really meant here. The most modern versions of the Bible (Contemporary English Version and the Message) say instead of "not ashamed", use "I am proud...". To be ashamed means to be embarrassed or guilty because of one's actions. Sy

The ‘I Am’s’ of Paul – Part 1

Posted on July 29, 2019 by lifejourneycf.net We know Jesus had a series of ‘I am’s’ such as “I am the Door”, “I am the Good Shepherd” and “I am the Way the Truth and the Life”. In fact the greatest declaration of Jesus was His declaration of Deity, “before Abraham was, I AM” (John 8:58). The majority of Christ’s ‘I Am’s’ are found in John’s Gospel. Paul, too has some ‘I am’s’. Whereas Jesus’ words are a declaration of His Deity, Paul’s are one’s of servitude. These are found in Romans Chapter One. He says in Romans 1:14 ESV “I am under obligation”. The NKJV says, “I am a debtor…”. Jesus was neither of those. He is God. Paul, on the other hand often begins his letters with he being a ‘servant of Christ’. What is interesting, though, Jesus lived as a servant … He was prophesied a servant in Isaiah (see chapters 49-53). Christ revealed His Deity through His servant’s heart. His words of kindness … His acts of mercy … His acceptance of sinners … all prove a heart of a servant. Rem

MMB 2019 == Number 1 The 2019 HAPPENING

MONDAY MORNING BLOG 2019 == Number 1  The 2019 HAPPENING Happy New Year ... Nearly Six Months In!!! Oh well!  In complete honesty the past few years have been a deep season of testing for us. In April of 2015 we left New Hampshire where we had resided for nearly 30 years for the sun of Florida. Two years later as applicants with the North American Mission Board (NAMB) we moved to Phoenix to be part of SENDPhoenix Church Planting. Our one-year internship plan was cut short in February of 2018. We were living in the desert of the USA and felt dry, alone, confused (in human terms) and directionless. These were days of seeking our Lord and King. By early March we sensed we need to move back to Florida. It's been over a year since that move and we've seen the Hand of God at work but not in the way we thought. Since leaving our NH home and the short 7 months in our Phoenix rental, we've been living with friends and family and have been unable to get into our own home for a va
