MMB - 11/7/2016 SPECIAL REPORT

Monday Morning Blog:  11-7-2016  SPECIAL REPORT

So here we are ... less than 24 hours away from away from the election of the century here in the United States of America. Why the "election of the century"? This election has revealed the nation is absolutely divided not by party or candidate preference but by distinct values of who we are and have been as a nation.

The flaws of all candidates have been closely and loudly scrutinized and much of it based on character and/or standards. Sadly, much of what drives the nation's existence (financial ideals, national and foreign ideals, constitutional ideals, etc.) have been skimmed over because of personality popularity or flaws. How a candidate views or will move on issues are rarely mentioned in this election. Instead, the focus is on the candidate's popularity. In fact as I write this now, our President is on the news networks speaking for his party's candidate in Ann Arbor, Michigan and the captions do not reflects Mrs. Clinton's viewpoints or policies but Mr. Trumps flaws. This is what has driven this "election of the century". Earlier, the networks showed Mr. Trump in Sarasota, Florida and there too the captions showed the reveal of the flaws of Mrs. Clinton.

Personally, I am tired of the mudslinging and hatred. I have always appreciated the portion of Scripture that gave Israel the promise of God's restoration to a wayward nation in 2 Chronicles 7:14. God is the God of PRINCIPLE and PROMISE. It is amazing how His Word (the Bible) is so relevant even centuries removed from the time of writing. So even though God's intent for this verse (as are the Ten Commandments and Beatitudes) are for specific groups or nations ... He makes them relevant by PRINCIPLE and PROMISE! That's why I PRAY for this nation, this election, all candidates and the electorate. I prayed fervently the other day for ALL the candidates (including Libertarian and Green) and their safety after I saw the Secret Service personnel swarm the stage and whisked Donald Trump off stage at a rally in Nevada.

Many in our nation have already chosen their choice for President and others on the ballot in early or mail-in voting. Kathy and I have a week ago here in Florida. But scores of others still have the opportunity of voting tomorrow. In voting we choose our preference. But after that it's out of our hands ... unless we apply 2 Chronicles 7:14 and PRAY! And I mean really Pray ... not preference but God's will. It will be the will of the Almighty who will win in this election.

"Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14 NLT

I am ready for the election to be over. I am ready, as well, to be a prayer warrior - Today ... Tomorrow and for the years ahead to make certain God heals our land from hatred, from division, from corruption, from terrorism, from sin choices, and from spiritual casualness. The United States has been seen as the Most Powerful Nation and Leader in the world. If so, God put it there. But the Sovereign God of the Universe can strip this nation down as well. So, may we PRAY! And PRAY some more! And PRAY the next day! And PRAY in the year ahead! An on and on and on.

A Prayer for Christmas Eve

O God our Father, you have brought us again to the glad season .....when we celebrate the birth of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Grant that his Spirit may be born anew in our hearts this day .....and that we may joyfully welcome him to reign over us. Open our ears that we may hear again the angelic chorus of old. Open our lips that we, too, may sing with uplifted hearts. Glory to God in the highest, .....and on earth, peace, goodwill toward all; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. "THE CHALLENGE" Monday Morning Blog - 10/3/2011

Eggs, cheese, bacon, home fries and toast are on order. I'm sipping a cup of dark roast as I write. My mind and heart are full (unlike my stomach).I mean that my God has been filling my heart and mind with deep issues of life that are causing me to be challenged. It is necessary I make changes and choices that coincide with what I am being confronted with. All too often I read the Scriptures and see the words but they are or become distant. I leave the words in the closed book when I am expected to make them part of who I am (or am to become). For example, the 1st ten chapters of Acts are extremely full of confronting issues that are there to challenge my heart with deep spiritual issues. I will simply point out one. I am a spiritual being (because of Christ in me) but I live in the natural realm. Acts chapters 1-10 reveal many Christ followers who experienced God's amazing power ... all because they were seeking, craving, living in the strength of the Holy Spirit. They, too ...

Monday Morning Blog 4-4-2011

Woke to a cool dry morning and drove family to destinations, visited with a neighbor then Kathy and I got ready to drive to Bristol for her ladies gathering at AGF at 10am. As we went outdoors the cool dry morning was now changed to a snowy, windy colder late morning. It's nearly noon now and the snow seemingly is ready to turn to rain. I am reminded that we are in Northern New England. Weather we can't control, mind input we can. As I write, I am at a public diner where I had a nice breakfast and I'm still sipping coffee. There is activity all over the place here. People coming and going, oldies playing on the radio, phones ringing and even a bit ago some of the staff were chasing a loose dog around (who was finally lured into the office by the owner!). In similiar situations like this, I recall times when people and conversations I heard could cause my mind to wander ... drift toward unhealthy thinking for a Christ-follower. Paul exhorted the Philippian believers to ...
