Monday Morning Blog ... MONDAY MORNING QUARTERBACK!!!

Happily, I have no Monday Morning Quarterback comments. The team I've followed since they wore red and white uniforms with a small minute man in a hiking position on their helmets just won their 5th Super Bowl title. And they did it breaking records again. The greatest comeback being down over 20 points ... the only overtime Super Bowl game ... they never led in the game until they won in the overtime touchdown ... and the unanswered points came mostly in the final quarter and few minutes in overtime.

I am a New Englander living in Florida. For most of my life, I lived in New Hampshire, along with about 2 years in Vermont and 7 years in Maine. Admittedly, I spent 2 summers in the Adirondacks in NY as a kitchen worker in a camp as well as 5 years in the DC area in college. Oh, I also was born and got married in Massachusetts. My roots are in New England. In the sports world, I've been a Boston teams fan. I've seen the Red Sox play a number of times and the Celtics at least twice. Even though I never seen a hockey or football game live, I am a Bruin and Pats fan. Especially the Patriots. If I miss watching a game, I miss alot. So this ninth Super Bowl appearance by my team was exciting. I was there for the first against the Bears in 1986 ... the biggest blowout in NFL Super Bowl history was leveled against my team by the boys of the "Super Bowl Shuffle" fame! It was ugly. Much like the first half of their 9th Super Bowl game!

So Super Bowl LI is in the history book. History was indeed made. Winningest Coach/QB combo ever. And neither seem they are choosing to leave the game. Now the Boston Duck Boat Parade for the Super Bowl winners tomorrow at 11am.

Next time I may share some thoughts on Fasting and Prayer.

A Prayer for Christmas Eve

O God our Father, you have brought us again to the glad season .....when we celebrate the birth of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Grant that his Spirit may be born anew in our hearts this day .....and that we may joyfully welcome him to reign over us. Open our ears that we may hear again the angelic chorus of old. Open our lips that we, too, may sing with uplifted hearts. Glory to God in the highest, .....and on earth, peace, goodwill toward all; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. MMB 7/29/24 - Callous

Morality in America is going the way of the countries of the world. We've been on this downward slope for a while. It has even sucked into its grasp some believers of the truth of Christ. As a pastor, I began to see this slope toward unrighteousness in the church around 2005. I was in New Hampshire and most people I encountered (including the churched and unchurched) had strong family and character morals. But slowly the demise began. My State at that time was on the lowest tier of the listing of states that had the lowest church attendees. Being a church attender doesn't make you moral. Being a devoted Christ follower in most cases does that. And morality finds itself in various stages.  What people witnessed on the Friday night telecast of the Olympian summer games opening ceremonies had some evidences of this moral decline. Some will see my words as being judgemental. I don't mean to be. I'm just stating what is allowed in 2024 were totally rejected more than 20 year...

MMB Monday Morning Blog 8-26-24 Seasons

There are four season in the year. In Florida, where I currently live, the season are here too but not like in New Hampshire where I'm from. Florida has HEAT. I remember visiting my parents back in the 90s at their winter home in Wachula around Thanksgiving. We already had snow before our drive south. As we hit Virginia and North Carolina it was apparent we were no longer in the frozen tundra. My parent's mobile home had two bedrooms. It wasn't big enough for us and our two sons. They did, however, have a pop-up trailer under the carport, so it was fine. To stay in a pop-up in Northern New England in late November mas near impossible. You would begin to shiver in about 5 minutes. Nights would reach a low of 0°-20°F. But not so in Florida. After a great Thanksgiving feast we went shopping at the local Walmart. They no longer stay open on Thanksgiving. As I walked into the store I was hit with culture shock. The store was in festive colors and lighting for Christmas but one t...
